Summit, TMG extend pact

Pickups include 'Cold Light of Day,' 'Breaking Dawn'

Summit Entertainment and Herbert Kloiber’s Tele Muenchen Group have extended their output deal for German-speaking Europe.

The agreement, announced Monday, includes all rights to Summit productions through 2013, including upcoming Bruce Willis thriller “The Cold Light of Day,” the two “Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn” pics, Jodie Foster’s “The Beaver” and heist drama “Man on a Ledge,” with Sam Worthington and Elizabeth Banks.

TMG also acquired rights to Terrence Malick’s “The Tree of Life,” which will premiere at the Cannes Film Festival.

Kloiber said the partnership with Summit had transformed TMG’s theatrical arm, Concorde Film, into the No. 1 independent distributor in Germany, and also “provided excellent results at our homevideo and VOD division.”

TMG has handled all rights to Summit productions since Summit relaunched as a full-service production and distribution studio in 2007 through its Concorde Film and Concorde Home Entertainment theatrical and DVD units.

Past releases include the first three installments in the “Twilight” franchise, Alex Proyas’ “Knowing” and action comedy “Red,” starring Willis, Helen Mirren and Morgan Freeman.
