Action-thriller moved to Aug. 5

Summit has pushed back action-thriller “The Darkest Hour” to Dec. 23 from Aug. 5.

“Hour” centers on five young people who find themselves stranded in Moscow and fighting to survive in the wake of a devastating alien attack.

Project marks the first American 3D production to film in Russia, with locations including Red Square, GUM Department Store, the Lenin Library and Square and the Academy of Science Plaza.

Chris Gorak directed from a screenplay by Jon Spaihts, based on the script by Leslie Bohem & M.T. Ahern.

“Hour” stars Emile Hirsch, Olivia Thirlby, Max Minghella, Rachael Taylor and Joel Kinnaman.

Tom Jacobson and Timur Bekmambetov produce.
