Comedy stars Alice Lowe, Steve Oram

LONDON — Studiocanal has teamed up with Film4 and the BFI Film Fund to co-finance “Sightseers,” the latest feature from “Kill List” director Ben Wheatley.

“Sightseers” stars Alice Lowe and Steve Oram, who also co-wrote the screenplay. It’s a dark comedy about an oddball couple whose caravan tour of the English countryside takes a twisted turn.

Lowe and Oram are both rising stars of the U.K. comedy scene. Lowe appeared most recently in Sky Atlantic’s cult hit “This Is Jinsy,” while Oram’s acting credits include “The Mighty Boosh.”

“Sightseers,” which started shooting Monday, is produced by Nira Park of Big Talk Pictures, and Claire Jones and Andy Starke of Rook Films. Exec producers are Danny Perkins and Jenny Borgars of Studiocanal, Matthew Justice of Big Talk and Katherine Butler of Film4.

Rook produced Wheatley’s acclaimed debut “Down Terrace” and his second feature “Kill List,” which Studiocanal released in the UK.

Protagonist Pictures is handling international sales for “Sightseers.”
