Strand Releasing nabs ‘Unforgivable’

Acquires U.S. rights to Andre Techine pic

Strand Releasing has acquired all U.S. rights to Andre Techine’s “Unforgivable” from TF1 Intl., six months after the pic’s world premiere in Director’s Fortnight at Cannes. Strand plans a spring release.

Intricate tale follows the complex relationships and history between friends, lovers and family. Carole Bouquet and Andre Dussollier star as a couple whose lives unwind against the romantic backdrop of Italy.

Jon Gerrans of Strand Releasing and Gregory Chambet of TF1 Intl. made the deal.

Strand has handled three other Techine titles — “Wild Reeds,” “The Witnesses” and “The Girl on the Train.” “‘Wild Reeds’ was one of the films that helped establish our company,” said Marcus Hu and Gerrans of Strand.

“Unforgivable” was produced by Said Ben Said. Techine and Mehdi Ben Attia penned the script, adapting the French novel by Philippe Djian.
