Sabine Bernardi-directed pic premiered in Berlin

Strand Releasing has acquired North American rights to Sabine Bernardi’s “Romeos” from Media Luna New Films and plans a release late thus year. The film had its world premiere at the Berlin Film Festival in the Panorama section. Deal was announced Thursday on the eve of the opening of the 35th San Francisco Frameline Film Festival where the film is screening.

Bernardi directed “Romeos” as her first narrative feature. Pic, produced by Janna Velber and Kristina Loebbert, deals with the burgeoning relationship between a handsome young man and a person going through the process of transforming from woman to man.

“Romeos” will also screen at the Seattle International Film Festival and Outfest in Los Angeles.

Deal was done between Jon Gerrans of Strand Releasing and Ida Martins of Media Luna.
