Steinberg tapped for ‘Furry Friday’

Scribe made directorial debut with 'Dial'

Exclusive: New Line Cinema has tapped “Puss in Boots” scribe David H. Steinberg to rewrite its live-action laffer “Furry Friday.”

Family film concerns a cat and a dog who switch bodies a la “Freaky Friday.”

Cathy Schulman and Adam Stone are set to produce for Mandalay Pictures, which initially sold the project as a spec to New Line.

Industry Entertainment’s Andrew Deane will also produce.

Steinberg is a co-writer on the “Shrek” spinoff “Puss in Boots,” which DreamWorks Animation releases Nov. 4. Scribe recently made his directorial debut on the indie comedy “Miss Dial,” which is currently in post-production. He previously earned a story credit on “American Pie 2” and is one of several writers to work on “Howard Stern’s Porky’s,” the sex comedy that remains in development.

Steinberg is repped by APA and Silent R Management.
