Sony offers SAG members free iTunes screeners

Studio joins Fox Searchlight, Paramount/Relativity in Oscars chase

Sony Pictures has become the latest studio to offer Screen Actors Guild members free downloads of its SAG awards contender, giving access to “The Social Network” through iTunes.

Fox Searchlight started the trend two weeks ago by giving SAG members access to download “127 Hours,” “Black Swan” and “Conviction,” followed by Paramount/Relativity for “The Fighter” and Focus for “The Kids Are All Right.”

SAG members will be able to view “The Social Network” without charge for 24 hours via iTunes through Jan. 28. Sony’s already sent DVD screeners of the Facebook drama to eligible SAG members.

“The Social Network” received SAG nominations for ensemble cast and for Jesse Eisenberg in the lead actor category.The SAG Awards will be presented Jan. 30.
