Soderbergh can’t catch himself

Infects entirely new audience

NEW YORK — After its Venice debut, Steven Soderbergh brought Warner Bros.’ “Contagion” to Gotham on Sept. 7, successfully inflicting virus phobia upon a whole new set of eyes. The helmer-producer told the aud at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Rose Theater, “I would be remiss if I didn’t take the opportunity to thank myself. I want to thank myself for saying yes to Scott Z. Burns’ script. I want to thank myself for going to Warner Bros. with that script. I want to thank myself for being really, really good in the room. Lastly, I really want to thank myself for being here tonight.”

Moviegoers kept their sneezes and coughs to a minimum during the screening, but bestowed plenty of handshakes and kisses at the Allen Room and Atrium after-party.
