Skydance nabs ‘The Hitman’s Bodyguard’

Tom O'Connor penned the high-concept actioner

David Ellison’s Skydance Prods. has acquired “The Hitman’s Bodyguard,” written by Tom O’Connor.

Plot details are being kept under wraps, but the project is described as a high-concept action pic.

Skydance’s Dana Goldberg said execs took to the script right away: “The relationship between the two main characters is reminiscent of ‘Lethal Weapon,’ and that, combined with a great story and action, made this a perfect fit for Skydance.”

Skydance has a strategic partnership with Paramount that allows it to co-finance and produce several films a year, but it’s not clear whether this pic will fall under that pact.

O’Connor’s first produced film, “Fire With Fire,” starring Bruce Willis and Josh Duhamel, will go into production this summer.

He is repped by UTA, Industry Entertainment and David Evans.
