SKE boards ‘Mr. Morgan’s Last Love’

Michael Caine starrer to be helmed by Sandra Nettlebeck

Sidney Kimmel Entertainment has come on board to co-finance and co-produce “Mr. Morgan’s Last Love,” starring Michael Caine.

SKE president Jim Tauber made the announcement Monday. Pic began shooting this week in Paris.

“Mr. Morgan’s Last Love” is adapted from the novel “La Douceur assassine” by Francoise Dorner. German writer-director Sandra Nettlebeck — whose credits include “Helen” and “Mostly Martha” — is helming from her screenplay.

German production companies Bavaria Pictures, Kaminski Stiehm Film and Senator Film will co-produce with Belgium-based Scope Pictures and Sidney Kimmel Entertainment, in association with Elzevir Films of France. Sidney Kimmel will also produce.

SKE is repping domestic distribution of “Last Love,” and foreign pre-sales are handled by Bavaria Film Intl.

The film also stars Clemence Poesy, Justin Kirk, Jane Alexander, Anne Alvaro and Gillian Anderson.

Set in Paris, “Last Love” centers on a retired, lonely American widower whose chance encounter with a free-spirited and young French woman brightens his life.

SKE’s other production and co-financing deals include “One for the Money,” produced with Lakeshore Entertainment; “Gone,” produced with Lakeshore and Summit Entertainment; “Parker,” produced with Sierra/Affinity and Incentive Filmed Entertainment; “The Place Beyond the Pines”; and “I, Frankenstein,” produced with Lakeshore.

Caine is repped by ICM.
