Distrib acquires Italian rights to Hui's film

Italy’s Tucker Films has acquired Italian rights to Hong Kong helmer Ann Hui’s “A Simple Life” (Tao jie) which screens today in competition.

Prolific auteur’s latest pic stars Asian superstar Andy Lau as a young film producer and Deanie Ip (“Crying Heart”) as an old family servant who is, more importantly, a close family friend.

Tucker Films is a niche distrib jointly run by Pordenone’s Cinemazero and UdineCentro Espressioni Cinematografiche. Latter also runs Italy’s Far East Film Festival.

Tucker’s recent releases include Tsui Hark’s “Detective Dee and the Mystery of the Phantom Flame.”

Sold by Distribution Workshop, “Simple Life,” which segues to Toronto, is produced by Bona Entertainment, Focus Film and Hong Kong’s Sil-Metropole Organization.
