Latino culture awards set for Aug. 12 in Beverly Hills

The 26th Imagen Awards have nommed “The Glades,” “Off the Map” and the now-defunct “Law & Order: Los Angeles” for best primetime show, along with TV movie “Lies in Plain Sight” and the Latin Billboard Music Awards.

Feature-film nominees are “Gun Hill Road,” “Tropico de sangre” and “Spoken Word.” Among the thesps who picked up noms are Marc Anthony, Selena Gomez, Michelle Rodriguez, Wilmer Valderrama and Penelope Cruz.

The Imagen Foundation honors industryites along with pics and TV shows that provide a positive representation of Latinos and Latino culture.

Other award categories include documentary, variety or reality show, actor and actress. This year there was no feature film director category, though young actress in TV was added to the lineup.

Awards will be presented at the foundation’s gala, hosted by thesp Maria Canals-Barrera, Aug. 12 at the Beverly Hilton.
