'30 Rock' helmer tapped for New Line magician comedy
Veteran TV director Don Scardino has come on board to helm Steve Carell’s magician comedy “Burt Wonderstone” for New Line.
Project’s been in development at New Line since 2006 when it bought Chad Kultgen’s spec, then titled “Burt Dickenson: The Most Powerful Magician on Planet Earth.”
“Burt” revolves around a rivalry between Las Vegas magicians. The writing team of John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein penned the most recent draft.
Chris Bender, J.C. Spink, Tyler Mitchell and Carell are producing. Carell’s producing via his Warner-based Carousel banner.
“Burt” is scheduled to begin shooting in Los Angeles in October.
Scardino’s small screen credits include “30 Rock,” “Royal Pains,” “Rescue Me,” “Big Lake” and “Lipstick Jungle.” He’s repped by CAA.
