Sam Rockwell circles ‘Cogan’s Trade’

Film reteams Brad Pitt with 'Jesse James' director

Sam Rockwell is in talks to join heist comedy “Cogan’s Trade” alongside Brad Pitt.

Andrew Dominik is directing from his own script, with Pitt’s Plan B and Chockstone Pictures producing. Inferno Entertainment is financing and handling international sales.

“Trade” reteams Pitt with Dominik, who wrote and directed 2007’s “The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford.” Story centers on the man behind the hitman — a professional enforcer who investigates a heist that takes place during a poker game under protection of the mob.

Producers include Pitt and Dede Gardner from Plan B and Steve Schwartz and Paula Mae Schwartz from Chockstone. Inferno’s Bill Johnson and Jim Seibel will exec produce along with Marc Butan. Chockstone’s Roger Schwartz is co-producer.

Rockwell was most recently in “Conviction.” He’ll be seen next in “The Sitter” and “Cowboys and Aliens.”
