Roxbury, Telecino team for action-thriller
Spain’s Roxbury Pictures and Telecinco Cinema are teaming to produce helmer-scribe Gonzalo Lopez Gallego’s “Inertia” with Sony’s AXN channel in Spain co-financing.Barcelona-based Film Factory, a leading European genre specialist, has sold the action thriller to France (Wildside), CIS (Carmen Film) and Australia (Vendetta) and is in advanced negotiations for other key territories, Film Factory topper Vicente Canales said Saturday. Described by producer Miguel Angel Faura as “Duel” for the PlayStation generation, “Inertia” is a hyper-realistic car-chase action movie. It kicks off with a van courier who witnesses a car run over a boy and gives chase. Lopez Gallego has devised a system allowing more than 30 cameras inside the vehicles. Co-scripted by Lopez Gallego and Fernando Navarro, “Inertia” begins principal photography this fall. It’s the third action movie unveiled in Cannes by Telecinco after Daniel Monzon’s “El Nino” (The Kid) and Paco Plaza’s heist movie “Sixty Feet Under.”
