“Flight of the Storks,” Jan Kounen’s first miniseries, is set to topline Rutger Hauer and Harry Treadaway.
Repped by TF1 Intl., the English-language skein is co-penned by Denis McGrath and produced by Luc Besson’s EuropaCorp Television. Gaul’s pay TV company Canal Plus commissioned “Storks,” which begins lensing this month in South Africa, Istanbul and Europe.
“Storks” is based on Jean-Christophe Grange’s bestselling crime novel, “Le Vol des cigognes,” published in 15 languages. Hauer and Treadaway will play opposite Perdita Weeks (“The Tudors”) and Clemens Schick (“Casino Royale”).
At Mipcom, TF1 is also kicking off sales on another high-profile English-language mini-series, “Bullet in the Face,” an action-comedy produced by IFC and Canada’s Muse Entertainment, which co-produced “The Pillars of the Earth” and “The Kennedys.”
“Bullet” — comprising three one-hours or six half-hours — is helmed by Erik Canuel and toplines Eddie Izzard, Eric Roberts and Kate Kelton. It will be delivered next summer.
