Donation will aid programs run by A Place Called Home

Sumner Redstone’s charitable foundation has donated $100,000 to A Place Called Home, a non-profit org that aids underprivileged youth in South-Central L.A.

A percentage of the gift will support the Adopt-a-Family Program, which matches families with donors that help provide necessities. The contribution will also enrich the org’s activities ranging from recreational to educational services.

“Improving the performance of our youth, both socially and academically, is one of the most critical and pressing issues today,” Redstone said.

The exec has adopted three Place Called Home families on a year-round basis. Redstone’s foundation has also supported Global Poverty Project, Cambodian Children’s Fund, Autism Speaks and the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, among other orgs and causes.
