Rave pacts with Deluxe/Echostar for satellite delivery

Features, alternative content to reach exhibs' theaters simultaneously

Rave Cinemas will soon receive digital content via satellite thanks to a recently signed deal with Deluxe/EchoStar.

Nixing the cost and delay of physically delivering digital hard drives, Rave’s theaters throughout the U.S. will be equipped with satellite equipment that will allow its screens to receive 2D and 3D features, trailers, live events and other programming, helping add to Rave’s alternative offering content of live sports, concerts and opera. The new system will also allow all Rave cinemas in 20 U.S. states to receive digital content simultaneously.

“Deluxe/EchoStar’s satellite distribution network continues to expand with exhibitors, such as Rave, who recognize the value of being connected electronically,” said Rick O’Hare, senior veep of Deluxe Entertainment Services Group.

Satellite equipment installation will begin immediately in Rave’s theaters, and is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
