The Weinstein Co. on Friday announced that it’s “honored” by reports that Queen Elizabeth enjoyed “The King’s Speech.”
The TWC announcement followed a report by Duncan Larcombe, royal editor of U.K. tabloid The Sun.
Normally, the royal family is mum on entertainment. There were no official statements on the film, directed by Tom Hooper and written by David Seidler. Similarly, Buckingham Palace was silent on “The Queen” a few years back, though Queen Elizabeth invited star Helen Mirren to lunch.
In “Speech,” the queen is portrayed by child actress Freya Wilson.
