Photos fuel Howards’ ‘Imagin8ion’

Eight images to anchor short on film storytelling

Ron Howard has selected the eight photos that will shape a short film centered on filmic storytelling.

The “Project Imagin8ion” competition, sponsored by Canon, called upon photogs to submit images inspired by eight different movie elements, from “character” to “obstacle” to “the unknown.” Canon and Howard culled a winning photo from each category out of the 96,362 online submissions received since May 22.

The photos now serve as the basis for a short film that will be helmed by thesp and budding director Bryce Dallas Howard, with father Ron Howard on board to produce. The duo and Freestyle Production are currently conceiving a storyline and script for a film to be shot and produced with Canon DSLR products.

Production of the as-yet-untitled short film will begin in September. A Gotham premiere of the pic is expected at the end of the year, with the winning photogs invited to the preem. The photos and list of winning photogs can be viewed at
