Perry taps Jamie Kennedy for ‘Deeds’

Funnyman joins Thandie Newton as leads to star opposite Perry himself

Tyler Perry has tapped funnyman Jamie Kennedy for his next Lionsgate pic “Good Deeds.”

Perry will write, direct and star in the romantic drama, set to begin shooting at the end of April in Atlanta.

Pic centers around an affluent and successful entrepreneur (Perry) who’s about to get married when he becomes enamored with a down-on-her-luck single mom. As Variety first reported last week, Thandie Newton was cast as the female lead opposite Perry.

Kennedy was also up for the role of Larry in 20th Century Fox’s upcoming tentpole “Three Stooges,” which eventually went to “Will and Grace” star Sean Hayes. Paradigm and 3Arts rep the thesp.
