Director Stephen Gyllenhaal (dad to Maggie and Jake) joined MRB Productions. The company signed Gyllenhaal immediately after working with him on the upcoming indie feature “Grassroots,” a character-driven film starring Jason Biggs and Lauren Ambrose. “Stephen and I had a wonderful working relationship on “Grassroots” and MRB kept getting boards for directors with a background in storytelling,” said MRB exec producer Matthew Brady. “I talked to Stephen about directing commercials and he was excited to jump on board. Instantly, we booked two projects for Reebok and ESPN.”

Visual effects house Pixomondo hired industry vet Simon Mowbray as creative director for commercials. Based out of Los Angeles, one of Pixomondo’s 11 studios around the world, Mowbray comes to Pixomondo from Ntropic, where he served as creative director and vfx Supervisor since 2009. Prior to Ntropic, Mowbray spent 13 years as VP at Radium, a boutique design and effects company he co-founded with current Pixomondo exec creative director Jonathan Keeton.
Editorial house Final Cut New York hired Lauren Bleiweiss as exec producer. Prior to joining Final Cut, Bleiwess was the exec producer at music studio Human Worldwide for seven years. Earlier she worked with Zander Reps.
ActiveVideo Networks, creator of CloudTV, the cloud-based app platform, named Brian Sereda as CFO. Sereda, who has more than two decades of financial management experience in Silicon Valley, was most recently at Virage Logic, seeing it through to a successful acquisition by Synopsys.
