Relationships are messy, especially long-distance ones — that’s what the characters in Drake Doremus’ “Like Crazy” find out the hard way.
The Paramount Vantage film, which gained much attention during Sundance, preemed Tuesday night at Gotham’s Sunshine Landmark, hosted by Tommy Hilfiger. Even Doremus was impressed, especially when he recalled how he used to buy “$2 tacos” and stand outside the ArcLight in Hollywood, hoping to have his own premiere one day.
The long-distance problem is something the pic’s Felicity Jones knows all about. “As an actor, you’re constantly in a long-distance relationship because most of your work happens around the world. The key is to make sure you speak as regularly as possible and don’t leave it longer than two and a half weeks. Very specific advice I know,” she added.
Co-star Anton Yelchin said he could identify with the flip side of long-distance relationships. “I overstay my welcome everywhere I go. I’m not welcome anywhere,” he joked.
