Paramount Pictures has come aboard to distribute and co-produce the Indian Paintbrush production “Labor Day,” directed by Jason Reitman.
Josh Brolin and Kate Winslet are onboard to star.
Reitman’s script, adapted from the novel by Joyce Maynard, follows an escaped convict who seeks shelter with a single mom and her young son over Labor Day weekend.
Lianne Halfon and Russell Smith of Mr. Mudd Prods. will produce along with Reitman and Helen Estabrook of Reitman’s Right of Way Films. Indian Paintbrush is co-financing the film, with the company’s Steven Rales and Mark Roybal exec producing. “Labor” will be the third consecutive Reitman pic to be distribbed by Par, following 2009’s “Up in the Air” and “Young Adult,” set to bow Dec. 16.
