Disney’s “Oz: The Great and Powerful,” will shoot at Raleigh Michigan Studios.
Pic will be the inaugural project for the new facilities and the largest film to shoot in Michigan to date, according to a release from the studios.
Disney is eyeing an August production start for the Sam Raimi-helmed pic.
While the state legislature has not yet approved his proposal to cap incentives at $25 million (the program currently has no limit), The Michigan Film Office temporarily halted application approvals.
After Snyder announced his proposal, the film office reassured applicants that projects approved before the announcement would stay on track to receive their incentives. At the time, “Oz” had not been named as one of those projects.
Raimi, a Michigan native, has lensed several pics in his home state, including two of the “Evil Dead” pics. Pic is slated for release in 2013.
