Newcomer Steinfeld wins in 'True Grit'

The Online Film Critics Society has friended “The Social Network” in a major way, awarding Sony’s Facebook drama its best picture trophy.

The org, which announced the winners Monday, also handed the pic’s David Fincher its director award and gave the adapted screenplay award to Aaron Sorkin.

“The Social Network” topped “Black Swan,” “Inception,” “Toy Story 3,” “True Grit” and “Winter’s Bone” for the best picture award.

Colin Firth won best actor for “The King’s Speech” and Natalie Portman took actress honors for “Black Swan.” Supporting actor kudo went to Christian Bale for “The Fighter,” while Hailee Steinfeld won best supporting actress for “True Grit.”

“Grit” also won the cinematography award for Roger Deakins.

“Inception” took two awards — Christopher Nolan won for original screenplay and Lee Smith for editing. “Toy Story 3″ was named best animated feature and “Exit Through the Gift Shop” received the documentary award. South Korea’s “Mother” won foreign-language honors.

The OFCS, founded in 1997, is comprised of more than 100 members. It tapped “The Hurt Locker” as its best picture winner last year and “Wall-E” in 2008.
