Geek goddess lands female lead in indie comedy

EXCLUSIVE: Olivia Munn continues her transition from geek goddess to bigscreen player, as “The Daily Show” correspondent has landed the female lead in the indie comedy “The Babymakers.”

The laffer follows a married couple who can’t conceive, prompting the husband (Paul Schneider) to enlist his friends’ help to rob a sperm bank where he made a deposit as a young man.

Broken Lizard member Jay Chandrasekhar (“Super Troopers”) is set to direct the Alliance Films/IM Global presentation from a script by Peter Gaulke and Gerry Swallow (“Ice Age: The Meltdown”). Kevin Heffernan will co-star.

Jason Blum is producing through his Blumhouse Prods. along with Brian Kavanaugh-Jones through his Automatik Entertainment, as well as Chandrasekhar and Aaron Behl. IM Global’s Stuart Ford exec produces. Blumhouse’s Jessica Hall and Automatik’s Bailey Conway will serve as associate producers. Production on the low-budget laffer is scheduled to start this summer in Los Angeles

Munn is no stranger to the Broken Lizard gang, having worked with them on 2009’s “The Slammin’ Salmon” and Dan Rosen’s upcoming comedy “Freeloaders.” Thesp recently appeared in “Iron Man 2″ and “Date Night,” and will soon be seen alongside Sarah Jessica Parker in Doug McGrath’s comedy “I Don’t Know How She Does It,” which The Weinstein Co. will release Sept. 16.

Munn earned her geek cred on G4’s “Attack of the Show” and will soon be seen co-starring in Aaron Sorkin’s HBO pilot, tentatively titled “More As This Story Develops.” Additionally, the men’s magazine Maxim listed Munn at #2 on its most recent version of the popular Maxim 100 list.

Munn is repped by CAA and Mosaic.
