Film Society of Lincoln Center and IFP have teamed to launch the Emerging Visions program, an initiative for up-and-coming creatives to run during the New York Film Festival.
A roster of 25 filmmakers selected for the program will meet with established helmers and producers including Shari Springer Berman, Barbara Kopple. Philip Seymour Hoffman and Doug Liman, as well as participate in a pitching session with indie types such as Christine Vachon and John Sloss. Organizers of the program hope the sessions will help the launch the up-and-comers’ careers.
List of emerging filmmakers tapped for the program includes Alrick Brown (“Kinyarwanda”), Adam Bowers (“New Low”) and Lanre Olabisi (“August the First”), among others.
Daylong event, supported by the Royal Bank of Canada’s Emerging Artists Project, is set for Oct. 3. The 2011 edition of NYFF runs Sept. 30-Oct. 16.
