NY Film Crix Online honor ‘Artist’

Pic also wins best director, music prize

Chalk up another win the black-and-white silent pic “The Artist.” New York Film Critics Online voted the film best pic of 2011, as well as honoring helmer Michael Hazanavicius with the directing prize and composer Ludovic Bource with best use of music.

Acting honors went to Michael Shannon for his turn in “Take Shelter” and Meryl Streep for “The Iron Lady,” while supporting nods went to Albert Brooks in “Drive” and Melissa McCarthy for “Bridesmaids.” The brash comedy also won for best ensemble.

Other wins include “The Descendants” scribes Alexander Payne, Nat Faxon, Jim Rash won best screenplay, “The Adventures of Tintin” for best toon and “Cave of Forgotten Dreams” for best docu.

The NY Film Critics Online voted on Dec. 11.
