NonStop picks up eight films

Titles include 'Kilimanjaro,' 'The Yellow Sea,' 'Blackthorn'

NonStop Entertainment picked up a slew of titles for the Nordic and Baltic markets at Cannes.

They include helmer Robert Guediguian’s Un Certain Regard player “The Snows of Kilimanjaro,” South Korean helmer Na Hong-jin’s local hit “The Yellow Sea,” and documentaries about luxury fashion brand Givenchy, gourmet restaurant El Bulli, and U.S. comedian and former “Tonight Show” host Conan O’Brien.

Other pickups include Mateo Gil’s “Blackthorn,” a new take on the classic Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid Western legend, starring Sam Shepard, that Magnolia will release in the U.S. this year; and Julien Leclercq’s “The Assault,” based on the true story of the hijacking of a French Airbus in 1994.

Stockholm-based NonStop Entertainment’s sister company NonStop Television also acquired 99 titles at Cannes for the Nordic and Baltic TV channels TNT7, Showtime and Silver through deals with Bankside, Showbox, Elle Driver and Scanbox.
