New Line’s in talks with “The Help” director Tate Taylor to come board to helm “Tammy,” the road trip comedy its develping for Melissa McCarthy.
New Line confirmed the negotiations Thursday.
It’s been developing “Tammy” with the “Bridesmaids” thesp as a possible starring vehicle from her spec script, co-written with Ben Falcone.
The script centers on a woman who loses her job at Hardee’s, find out that her husband is cheating on her and goes on a trip with her foul-mouthed grandmother. McCarthy and Falcone will also exec produce “Tammy.”
McCarthy won an Emmy in September for CBS’s “Mike & Molly” and will appear Judd Apatow’s “Knocked Up spin-off for Universal.
