Nationlight brings ‘Jacob’ to bigscreen

Helfant, author benShea to adapt book series

Nationlight Prods. has partnered with producer Michael Helfant and author Noah benShea to develop and produce a pic based on benShea’s “Jacob” book series.

Philadelphia-based Nationlight plans to turn the trilogy into a single film, with Nationlight prexy Marc Erlbaum adapting and producing with benShea and Helfant.

The series centers on a poor, pious baker whose gentle and profound wisdom brings inspiration, hope and comfort to the world around him.

The three books, “Jacob the Baker” (first published in 1990), “Jacob’s Journey” (1992) and “Jacob’s Ladder” (1998), have been translated into more than a dozen languages.

Nationlight Prods. exec produced the 2010 Sundance screener “Everything Must Go,” starring Will Ferrell.

Erlbaum most recently penned and directed “Cafe,” starring Jennifer Love Hewitt.

Nationlight is repped by WME Global.
