Exec honored for humanitarian contributions

National CineMedia chairman and CEO Kurt C. Hall will receive this year’s Salah M. Hassanein Humanitarian Award at the 2011 ShowEast convention.

The award, given to industry leaders who have an exceptional philanthropic track record, honors Hall and National CineMedia’s charitable work with The Adoption Exchange, Variety — The Children’s Charity, Anti-Defamation League, and Colorado Uplift, among other humantiarian groups.

National CineMedia also maintains a charity program where employees support over 200 local, national and international organizations like the American Heart Assn. and Susan G. Komen for the Cure. CineMedia has also donated movie passes to military families, as well as donated screentime in select theaters for PSAs.

“Kurt’s leadership has brought National CineMedia to the forefront in supporting humanitarian and charitable organizations both within and outside the cinema exhibition community,” said Robert H. Sunshine, managing director of ShowEast.

Past recepients of the Salah M. Hassanein Humanitarian Award include Tom Sherak, Stanley Durwood and Sonny Gourley.

ShowEast 2011 will take place October 24-27 in Miami.
