Korea's Finecut set for busy EFM

Korean helmer Park Jung-bum’s debut, “The Journals of Musan,” has been acquired by Star Sands for Japan and SNRT for Morocco TV.

Sold by Seoul-based sales outfit Finecut, the pic will have its market premiere at the Berlinale’s European Film Market.

“The Journals of Musan” won the Pusan Film Festival’s New Currents Award and the Grand Prix at the Marrakech Film Festival.

Finecut has also sold “Hello Ghost,” last year’s surprise hit comedy, to Taiwan’s Catchplay. Starring Cha Tae-hyun, the pic cumed more than $20 million and will be released in the U.S. by CJ CGV Holdings in February.

Another Finecut title, helmer Lee Chang-dong’s “Poetry,” was recently sold to the U.K. (Arrow Films), Norway (Arthaus) and Singapore (Luna Films). Pic will be released in the U.S. on Friday by Kino-Lorber.

Argentinean helmer Pablo Trapero’s “Carancho” was sold to Portugal (MPA), Switzerland (Xenix) and Thailand (J-Bics).
