Red Flag to distrib pic via VOD, DVD, digital streaming
Red Flag Releasing has acquired domestic rights to Sundance docu “We Were Here,” with plans to use a mix of distribution platforms for a September release.
“We Were Here,” from producer-director David Weissman, centers on the Stonewall riots in the early 1970s. Bill Weber co-directed and edited the pic.
Red Flag will distribute the docu in partnership with the Film Collaborative, New Video and PBS’ Independent Lens, using video-on-demand, DVD, and digital streaming. New Yorker Films also will spearhead an educational/non-theatrical outreach component.
“‘We Were Here’ richly deserves the first-class treatment it will receive across all windows and platforms — a real ‘Distribution 2.0’ strategy in action,” said worldwide producer’s rep Jonathan Dana.
Deal was negotiated by Dana and Film Collaborative’s Orly Ravid.
