Hendricks, Ross to leave the studio
The Mouse House continues to reduce its executive ranks, with Disney’s heads of physical production and casting set to leave the studio.
Bruce Hendricks has spent more than a decade as president of physical production, a post in which he also helmed pics like “Hannah Montana and Miley Cyrus: Best of Both Worlds Concert Tour” and “Jonas Brothers: The 3D Concert Experience.” He also served as an executive producer on the “Pirates of the Caribbean” pics and “Pearl Harbor.”
Marcia Ross was executive VP of feature casting at Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.
The departures follow recent announcements of retirements or resignations of Chuck Viane as president of distribution, David Singh as exec VP of worldwide marketing and creative content, and Chris LeRoy as exec VP of distribution.
The moves come as the studio is undergoing rounds of cost-cutting as it curbs production to focus on fewer films but more Disney branded fare, filling the rest of its release sked with pics from Marvel, Pixar and DreamWorks.
Hendricks will continue to serve as a consultant to the studio.
