MWFF market sessions take on music, distribution

Music in film and the fast-changing film distribution landscape will be in the spotlight at the Montreal World Film Festival market.

Today’s market panels include a talk on music supervisors featuring Koo Abuali from L.A.-based FireWire Music, a panel on music rights with Permission Inc. head Lucie Bourgouin, and one on placement of music in films, with Abuali, Bourgouin, Brigitte Sicard from Montreal label Audiogram, Editions AD Litteram prexy Guillaume Lombart and Apollo Publishing co-prexy Philippe-Aubert Messier.

On Wednesday, nontraditional alternative distribution will be talked up in a panel moderated by IMDb head of fest strategy Christian Gaines and including producer Mynette Louie from Syncopated Films, the Film Collaborative founder Orly Ravid, Zeroes 2 Heroes Media prexy Matthew Toner and Ira Deutchman, managing partner at Emerging Pictures. They will look at case studies involving digital exhibition, Internet streaming, VOD and social network sites.The Montreal World Film Festival, which kicked off Thursday, continues until Sunday.
