‘Misfits’ is perfect fit for FilmSharks

Sales house picks up omnibus movie

Guido Rud’s Buenos Aires-based FilmSharks Intl. has acquired the remaining rights to “Los Inadaptados” (The Misfits), a Mexican dramedy that snared the audience award at the Guadalajara Film Festival.

Mexico’s Gussi Films already has bought Latin American rights for “Misfits,” and Distrimax, Gussi’s U.S. theatrical distributor, has rights for North America.

Directed by four Mexican helmers, it is four separate stories about misfits.

Marco Polo Constandse directs the tale of five old ladies who plot a bank robbery to feel alive again.

Javier Colinas’ section follows a man who is suicidal until he meets a girl and is presented to her family as a porn star

Gorge Ramirez Suarez, helmer of Berlin player “Rabbit on the Moon,” a strong seller worldwide, directs a tale about a lawyer trapped in an elevator with a maid.

Sergio Tovar Velarde, whose suicide tale “My Last Day” played San Sebastian, directs the story of a computer freak who makes an online blind date with a stranger.

The other helmers are Javier Colinas and Marco Polo Constandse.

Luis Arrieta penned the screenplay and stars along with Luis Ernesto Franco, Paola Nunez, Isela Vega and Joaquin Cordero.

Mexico’s Los Gueros Films — founded by Arrieta, Colinas, Franco and Mauricio Candela in 2008 — and Beanca Films produced “Misfits.”
