Miramax pacts with Netmovies

Brazilian streaming site has 35,000 titles

Miramax has announced a streaming deal with Brazil’s online platform NetMovies.

Pics available through the multi-year deal include “Pulp Fiction,” “The English Patient,” “City of God,” “Amelie,” “There Will Be Blood” and “Kill Bill.”

NetMovies will make the titles available on a variety of platforms including PCs, Macs, Smart TVs, Blu-ray players, iOS and Android tablets beginning Dec. 1. Company will also provide titles on video game consoles in the near future.

NetMovies, which counts more than 35,000 titles in its online library, provides a subscription-based service through DVD and Blu-ray home delivery and unlimited streaming access.

Pact between the two companies is the latest in Miramax’s effort to digitally exploit its library. Since new owners bought the company from Disney last year, they’ve inked deals with Netflix, Hulu and Facebook, among other major online platforms.
