Miramax, DFI ink intern pact

Qatari students to work at company's offices

DOHA — Miramax has joined forces with the Doha Film Institute to launch a Media Immersion Program, which will enable Qatari college students to intern in the company’s Santa Monica or London offices.

The news comes the day after Miramax CEO Mike Lang announced at the Doha Tribeca Film Festival that the company was launching a Facebook app, which would enable users in Qatar, Egypt and the UAE to rent select pics via the social network site.

Speaking at the fest, Lang said: “Through this internship, we seek to offer talented and driven young people hands-on experience in entertainment that will contribute to their professional growth. We are also excited about opportunities to promote our library throughout the region, which we believe will be a great source of creative and business talent in the future.”
