Exclusive: “The Office” star Mindy Kaling is the latest to join the cast of Nicholas Stoller’s Universal comedy “Five Year Engagement.”
Jason Segel and Emily Blunt star in the film, which tracks the ups and downs of their extended engagement.
Pic co-stars Rhys Ifans, Chris Pratt, Alison Brie, David Paymer, Kevin Hart, Lauren Weedman and “Animal Kingdom” thesp Jacki Weaver.
Kaling will play one of Ifans’ grad students.
Judd Apatow and Rodney Rothman are producing the project, which Stoller co-wrote with Segel, who exec produces.
“Five-Year Engagement” is slated to start production later this month.
In addition to writing for and co-exec producing “The Office,” Kaling is also an author, with her book “Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? (And Other Concerns)” scheduled to hit shelves Nov. 1. Kaling recently appeared in Ivan Reitman’s “No Strings Attached
,” and remains attached to write, exec produce and star in “The Low Self Esteem of Lizzie Gillespie.”
