Indie producer picks up feature rights to comic book superhero
Canadian indie producer Minds Eye Entertainment has picked up feature rights to comic book superhero “Captain Canuck” from writer/creator Richard Comely.
Kevin DeWalt, CEO and President of Minds Eye, made the announcement Tuesday and said the company’s working closely with Comely to develop a film adaptation based on the series.
“Captain Canuck” was first published in 1975 and followed Tom Evans, a Canadian secret agent who gained superhuman strength from contact with extraterrestrials. More than 2 million copies have been sold and 26 different editions have been printed.
Minds Eye titles include “The Tall Man,” starring Jessica Biel, “Faces uin the Crowd” with Milla Jovovich; “Lullaby for Pi” starring Forest Whitaker and Rupert Friend; and Stephen King’s “Dolan’s Cadillac,” starring Christian Slater.
