Tom Hanks introduced his pic “Larry Crowne” at the Chinese on Thursday, thanking his co-stars Julia Roberts, Bryan Cranston and Taraji P. Henson and apologizing to the aud for being stuck in a theater. “I hope you find the film as beautiful as it is outside,” he said on the warm summer night.
At the Rolling Stone Lounge afterparty, Universal’s Adam Fogelson praised Hanks for bucking the trend of big action pics.
“I’m thrilled for the business of big movies doing so well, and we have been fortunate as of late to benefit from these big films,” Fogelson said. “Still, a film like this shows there is room in the business for smart, well-acted, well-written material, and no one can bring that together better than Tom and Julia.”
