Michelle Monaghan to star in ‘Bliss’

Actress will play war vet with young son

Michelle Monaghan will portray a veteran of the war in Afghanistan as the star of indie drama “Fort Bliss,” with Claudia Myers directing from her own script.

Myers is producing with Brendan McDonald and Adam Silver.

Story centers on a female soldier transferred home after a long tour in Afghanistan who struggles to relearn how to feel to rebuild her relationship with her 5-year-old son. Shooting starts in June in New Mexico with a budget of about $2 million.

Myers directed and wrote 2006 indie romantic comedy “Kettle of Fish,” starring Gina Gershon and Matthew Modine.

Monaghan’s currently seen in “Machine Gun Preacher” opposite Gerard Butler.

She’s repped by ICM.
