Hobbit, Bond films under new Svensk deal

Scandinavian production and distribution shingle Svensk Filmindustri has signed a long-term distribution deal with MGM for both theatrical and DVD/Blu-ray rights in Sweden, Norway, Denmark and Finland.

Deal, announced Wednesday, covers the entire MGM catalog and new releases for the next five years, including the upcoming “Hobbit” films (set for release in 2012 and 2013) and the next Bond movie (No. 23, due out Nov. 9, 2012).

MGM and Svensk also look forward to distributing Bond 24 on a similar basis, said the Scandi company, founded in 1919.
