‘Melt With You’ goes to Magnolia

PARK CITY — Magnolia Pictures has bought U.S. theatrical rights to helmer Mark Pellington’s “I Melt With You.”

Deal was brokered by Magnolia’s senior VP Tom Quinn, with Submarine’s Josh Braun and Rena Ronson of UTA.

“Melt With You,” which preems tonight at the Eccles Theater here in Sundance as a fest premiere, tells the story of four friends who take a drug and rock n’ roll-infused trip to Big Sur. The film toplines Thomas Jane, Jeremy Piven, Rob Lowe and Christian McKay as the road-tripping quartet.

Pic was scribed by Glenn Porter and produced by Pellington, Norm Reiss and Rob Cowan. Exec producers are Aaron Gilbert, Heidi Levitt and Neil LaBute.

This marks the second fest pick-up for Magnolia. Distrib previously nabbed rights to docu “Page One.”
