CMT's 'Singing Bee' host joins Kevin James comedy

Melissa Peterman, host of CMT’s “The Singing Bee,” has joined the Kevin James comedy “Here Comes the Boom,” currently shooting in Boston.

Story centers on a teacher who moonlights as a mixed martial arts fighter to save his school’s music program. Peterman plays the wife of Gary Valentine’s character who, after having many kids together, tries hard to get their romance back.

“Here Comes the Boom,” written by James and Allan Loeb, is helmed by Frank Coraci with James and Todd Garner producing. Columbia Pictures and MGM are co-financing the pic with a July 27, 2012 release date.

Peterman will be a presenter Wednesday at the CMT Music Awards and recently starred in “Working Class” for the network. She’s represented by APA and manager Darris Hatch.
