Open Road Films and Liddell Entertainment have dated Elizabeth Olsen scarer “Silent House” for a March 9 nationwide release.
Co-directed by Chris Kentis and Laura Lau, “Silent House” preemed at Sundance Open Road and Liddell partnered to acquire U.S. rights to the film in July.
Pic follows a young woman, played by Olsen (“Martha Marcy May Marlene”), who’s trapped inside her family’s decrepit house. Based on the Oscar Estevez-written Uruguayan film “La casa muda,” the English-language retread was penned by Lau with producer Tazora Films’ Agnes Mentre.
“Silent House” joins Open Road’s previously announced first-quarter 2012 release “The Grey,” which Liddell is partnering to release on Jan. 27.
The weekend of March 9 is already busy, with four other films slated to go wide: Disney’s “John Carter”; Sony’s “Think Like a Man,” toplining Kevin Hart; FilmDistrict’s Gerard Butler-Jessica Biel romantic comedy “Playing the Field”; and period horror-thriller “The Raven,” from Relativity Media.
