Lionsgate taps PR vet Fontaine

Exec to handle theatrical publicity for minimajor

Lionsgate is bringing on veteran studio exec Julie Fontaine as exec VP of theatrical publicity.

The minimajor on Thursday confirmed the deal, under which she’ll report to marketing president Tim Palen.

Move comes three months after Sarah Greenberg ankled her post as Lionsgate’s marketing co-president. Greenberg, who recently joined the Weinstein Co. in a similar slot, was promoted into the co-president post at Lionsgate with Palen in 2006.

Fontaine was promoted in November at Walt Disney Studios to serve as VP of domestic publicity, and oversee domestic publicity, film festival and awards campaigns. She joined Disney’s L.A. operations in 2009, and worked on such campaigns as “The Queen” and “The Diving Bell and the Butterfly” at Miramax.
