Lionsgate rounds out ‘Chainsaw’ cast

Newcomer Dan Yeager to play Leatherface in 3D pic

Lionsgate has completed casting of “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3D” with Leatherface portrayed by newbie thesp Dan Yeager.

“Percy Jackson and the Olympians” star Alexandra Daddario will play the female lead (Variety, July 7).

John Luessenhop (“Takers”) is directing the pic, a reimagining that picks up after Tobe Hooper’s 1974 horror classic, from a script by Adam Marcus and Debra Sullivan and a polish by Kirsten Elms and Luessenhop.

Lionsgate announced Tuesday that Gunnar Hansen, the original Leatherface, is set to appear in a cameo with Marilyn Burns, the original film’s lead actress. Bill Mosely, who played the role of “Choptop” in Hooper’s 1983 sequel, will play Drayton Sawyer in this film.

Rounding out the cast as friends of Daddario’s character are Tania Raymonde, singer Trey Songz in his film debut and Keram Malicki-Sanchez. Law enforcement roles will be filled by Thom Barry, Paul Rae and Scott Eastwood.

Lionsgate is handling domestic distribution and Nu Image takes international sales for the pic, which is skedded for release on Oct. 5, 2012. Nu Image is financing the production.
